PLAY at The TEACH Group

PLAY is our signature therapy program for children ages 2–8 who need help with:

  • Speech and language development

  • Making friends and playing with peers
  • Potty training, feeding, and school readiness

We integrate:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Speech Therapy

Unlike other centers, we don’t mandate hours, we include parents in the process, and we always start with trust and compassion.

I cannot recommend the TEACH Group enough, which we utilize for speech, occupational therapy, and their PLAY group. The team's caring nature is evident in everything they do, from their personalized teaching methods to their warm interactions with every child. They have a knack for making children feel comfortable and eager to learn, which I believe is a huge factor in the significant progress my son has made. In addition, the front desk staff deserves a special mention because they're always helpful, responsive, and go above and beyond to ensure we have all the information we need.

My 3 yr old sees Dr. Sarah for ABA therapy and the Occupational Therapist. He also goes to the PLAY preschool. ABA therapy with Dr. Sarah is his favorite of all the therapies he attends weekly! He warmed right up to her and she is so nice! He comes home from therapy and preschool so much calmer and less violent toward his brothers. His listening skills have greatly improved and overall mood. The office manager, Emily, is great too! We love them and have had nothing but positive encounters!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is this covered by insurance?

Yes! Most of our families use TennCare, BlueCare, or private insurance. We'll help verify your coverage.

Q: Is this only for children with autism?

Not at all. While many of our clients are on the autism spectrum, we also work with children experiencing speech delays, social challenges, or behavioral concerns.

Q: What ages do you accept?

PLAY is ideal for children ages 2 to 8.

Q: How long is the program?

Many families stay for 6–12 months. Some stay for years—especially those who start young. Our goal is to help your child progress at their own pace.

Q: What if my child doesn’t do well in groups?

That’s okay! We start slow. Some children begin with shorter sessions or even 1:1 time. Our goal is to build trust, then gradually integrate them into the peer setting.

Q: What if I’ve heard negative things about ABA?

We understand. That’s why we practice “ABA the TEACH Group way”—a compassionate, flexible approach that respects your child’s individuality. You’ll always be part of the process.

Q: Can I observe sessions?

Yes. Especially in the beginning, parents are encouraged to sit in, observe, and ask questions.

Q: How do I start?

What Happens If You Wait?

We know it’s hard to make decisions when you’re overwhelmed. But here’s the truth:

Waiting often makes things harder.

  • Behavioral challenges tend to grow, not go away.
  • Language delays can become social isolation.
  • A child who struggles now may face rejection or exclusion later.
  • Missed early intervention windows can make school transitions more difficult.
  • And the longer you wait, the more your child misses out on friendships, learning, and confidence.

You don’t need to solve everything today.

You just need to take the first step.
